I've tried writing stories about bald people or alternate bald universes but it just doesn't... flow. So here's some pics of ladies, with hair.

Righto, let's begin this 'art' giveaway. I am, perhaps unsuprisingly, a bit of a comics fan and not above a bit of sad, pathetic geek art. In that spirit, here are some pics of a character from Neil Gaimans 'The Sandman'. This is supposed to be Daniel, the pasty blonde replacement for the original pasty goth hero of the series, who gets jammed up at the end. So, if you've never read The Sandman, I suppose I've just ruined the ending for you. Sorry.

Tove Jansson is one of my favouritest drawers. She's up there with Durer and Hokusai. Most people of my generation remember the creepy animated felt version of the Moomins from their childhoods, but haven't read the books, but they should. The stories are lovely but for me the pictures make the books fantastic. Her mastery of tone over the page is amazing, and something I certainly aspire to.

So in homage to the great lady I have recreated a scene from Moomin Papa's Memoirs, the Hattifattner's island, which nestles beneath my computer at work. If you don't know what a Hattifattner is then read the books.

Friends of me may know that I draw. Constantly, on anything that lies still long enough to be drawn on. If you've just come to this weblog and don't know me from adam, just take my word for it. It's a very pleasant way to spend time but as a result I have a lot of drawings lying around. Little scraps that are never meant to be major pieces but none the less I can't bring myself to throw away. They are also not things that I particularily want on my walls, because I am unutterably beourgois, so they tend to end up languishing in folders and drawers, out of sight.

So, rather than let them fade away, unseen, I thought I'd set them free to you, the random people of the internets.

Just make a comment on the picture you want leaving an email address - remember to space it out or add bits so evil spambots can't get at you - and I'll contact you for a mailing address. I'll send to most places in the world, obviously it won't be framed but I'll try to ensure it isn't totally mangled by the time it gets to you. If you are so moved that you feel compelled to send me 50p in the post by way of renumeration then so be it but don't feel you have to.

If I get loads of requests for a pic I'll assign some random/arbitrary way of deciding who gets what but I'm not anticipating a heavy demand.

Also, as this is a free give away I'm afraid you have no statutory rights and if the thing gets lost in the post or I mess the whole thing up then tough. Draw your own inane doodles.
